Why sodium bicarbonate?

Baking soda, or sodium bicarbonate, is a versatile mineral that is inorganic, highly alkaline (with a high pH), and supports numerous biological functions in the human body, similar to magnesium. Zechsal baking soda is pure and clean.

Although the body produces bicarbonate in the pancreas, we can often benefit from extra bicarbonate, especially when it comes to alkalizing our bodies. Additionally, baking soda in combination with magnesium serves as an important source of energy.

Effects of Baking Soda on the Body

Baking soda has several effects on the body:

  • Alkalizes the Body: Helps neutralize acidity in the body, balancing the pH levels.
  • Facilitates Oxygen Delivery: Improves the efficiency of oxygen delivery through the bloodstream.
  • Neutralizes Radiation Effects: Helps neutralize the effects of radiation within the body.
  • Increases Energy Production: When combined with magnesium, it boosts the production of energy (ATP).
  • Supports the Immune System: Enhances the body's defense mechanisms.

The Role of Bicarbonate in the Body

The inability to efficiently remove acids accelerates the aging process. Bicarbonates act as buffers, helping to expel acidic waste from the body. A lack of sufficient bicarbonate hinders the blood's ability to regulate acid levels, which can lead to various unpleasant conditions and potentially chronic complaints.

Even in healthy individuals, a noticeable decline in bicarbonate levels typically begins around the age of 45. Poor diet and lifestyle, along with stress and medication, can exacerbate this process. Regular supplementation with baking soda or occasional alkalizing treatments can be preventive and help restore the energy balance, especially during illnesses like colds and flu.

Bicarbonate, together with magnesium chloride, provides a necessary boost for ATP production in the mitochondria—the cell's energy centers. Bicarbonate assists in making free magnesium biologically available in a non-acidic environment.

Benefits for Specific Groups

Baking soda is particularly beneficial for:

  • Older Adults: Helps maintain pH balance and energy levels.
  • Individuals with Low pH Levels: Supports alkalizing and balancing the body.
  • Athletes: Helps to expel lactic acid from muscles more quickly due to a higher pH.
  • Those with Colds, Flu, Inflammations, or Hangovers: Assists in recovery and pH balancing.

In addition to its health benefits, baking soda has many other uses, including as an odor eliminator, cleaning agent, meat tenderizer, and leavening agent in baking.

Dosage and Usage of Baking Soda

There are two ways to use baking soda: through skin absorption or orally.

1. Skin Absorption

  • Use 200 grams in a full bath (80 to 100 liters of water) or 40 to 50 grams in a foot bath (about 4 liters of water). Soak for at least 20 minutes.
  • When used with Zechsal magnesium crystals, reduce the amount by half, to 100 grams for a full bath and 20 grams for a foot bath.
  • Tip: First dissolve the magnesium crystals in warm water, then add the baking soda. Adding them simultaneously may cause a reaction that produces bubbles, reducing the effectiveness.

2. Oral Intake

  • Mix 1.5 grams (half a teaspoon) with a glass of water or water with lemon juice. Take this mixture twice a day on an empty stomach or just before meals. Gradually increase the intake.

Safety Considerations

The use of baking soda is generally safe, but it's important to monitor your pH levels to determine if extra bicarbonate is needed. High doses can cause headaches or nausea, and prolonged use can be harmful to kidney and bladder tissues. Avoid if you are on a low-sodium diet or if you are taking medications such as antibiotics and acid reducers. If in doubt, consult a doctor.

Composition of Zechsal Baking Soda

Zechsal baking soda consists of 99.9% sodium bicarbonate (sodium hydrogen carbonate). The quality of Zechsal baking soda is certified and contains no aluminum.
